Welcome to my wood working carpentry (or cabinetry) web site. I'm going to try a different approach to this web site by using frames. You can select an article to view from the left side menu or you can return to the Croteau Genealogy web site by using the top menu.
If you do NOT see a selection menu on your left, please click here.
I have been working with wood since an early age when my grandfather purchased a child's tool chest with a hammer, saw and screwdriver from Woolco in downtown Hamilton, Ont.. I started acquiring tools when my father was cutting the grass one day and hit a metal combination wrench with the lawnmower, which I neglected to pick up. Needless to say, I bought my own tools from then on - or that was one of the gifts I enjoyed receiving. While attending high school I made my first outdoor chair using some pattern or another in my fathers garage. I was allowed to use the table saw - you know one of those old fashioned contraptions without blade or belt guards. I think my father was having a fit while overseeing the project.
Throughout the years I have moved from one town to another with my job. I did not have the space or the time, to do too much carpentry work until now. With our move to Brantford we built the home of our dreams and a 2 1/2 car garage. Eventually I upgraded my tools to the point the cars are now outside... much to the chagrin of SWMBO. I still consider myself an amateur carpenter so don't expect to see too much great and wonderful projects here. These are not complicated by any means but I enjoy making them. There is a certain satisfaction in knowing you have created something out of rough stock lumber even if it was following a plan or looking at a picture in a book.
We have three animals here - two Sheppard's; a 12 year old male named Simba and a 4 year old female named Kiara and two sister cats named Meeka (aka:George) & Gracy. To learn more about who I am and what I enjoy, click on the home button on the top menu. That will take you back to my main genealogy web site.
Enjoy yourself, have a look around and let me know if you have any questions...
