Games Tip and Hints:

Over the past few months I have discovered the world of Facebook Game Applications...  As a result of my diversion towards these applications, I have neglected the study of my ancestors.  I retired from my career job, took up a part time job so the days had some meaning and now I've spent my time playing around.  I might as well share a few tips and tricks that I have discovered and calculated over the past while instead of emailing you directly.

FarmVille FarmTown Mafia Wars CafeWorld

FarmVille and FarmTown:

Here I looked at the information displayed when you purchase a crop.  It costs 15 coins to plough a section of land in all cases.  When you harvest a crop, you are given a certain number of coins (Sale) for doing so.  I took the sale cost - deducted the cost of the crop to equal a certain value called Harvest-Cost factor.  Lets give an example:

Strawberry: Sell a harvested crop for 35 coins, it cost you 10 coins to purchase a crop.  The profit per square = 25 coins.  This crop takes about 4 hours until it is ready to harvest from planting.  If you planted this crop every 4 hours, you would earn 150 coins per day.  You only gain 1 XP (Experience Point) for this crop though.  If you are looking to make a fast buck, then chose Black Berries however the drawback is that you only receive 1 Experience Point for harvesting this crop.

I'm at a low level in this game presently so I'm not displaying all the possibilities that are available.  If you are only prepared to harvest and plant a new crop once a day, then look at the 24 hour figures.  Grapes provided the best profit of all the crops that take 24 hours to grow.  Notice that you gain 2 XP for these crops which is what you are looking for... also notice the more time it takes to grow a crop, the more that crops costs you!  This chart is sorted first by hours, then by per day profit.

Fertilizing and Visiting: One quick method of gaining coins and XP is to visit your neighbors often and if given the opportunity, fertilize their crops.  At each visit you gain 5 coins and 1 XP, when you fertilize you gain 4 coins plus 1 XP.  You have 5 bags of fertilizer so that gives you a grand total of 25 coins plus 6 XP per visit!

Jail your Avatar: If you enjoy waiting for the avatar to conduct it's business, great, but there are times I just want to do a job as quickly as possible.  One method of quickly moving through a session is to watch which block your avatar is in when you first start playing.  Delete the crop so you have clear grass.  Place bales of hay (of whatever color you wish) all around the outside of that square... effectively blocking the avatar from moving.  Now do your farming and you notice how quickly you get through your job.

Expand your farm: Go to the market option and select Expand Farm.  The most area you have to work, the more crops you can plant which you can earn coins from.

Trees and Animals - I've seen farms that have a ton of trees and animals but hardly any crops.  The money is in the crops, not the extras.  Limit these to a handful of each if you wish, or sell them when received as gifts.  Depending on your graphics card memory allocation, you might find your animals are moving around... nice if you have them in fenced in areas, pure hell if they are open all over the farm though.

Mafia Wars Tips:

This fellow has done an excellent job of describing with intricate details, all about Mafia Wars.  I have used his guide "The Basics of Mafia Wars", which appears to be growing each day and have profited from the advice.  This game can be difficult to get your head wrapped around when you first start out.  The best advise he gives is to drop your xp points into Energy thus you can play more often.

http://www.mafiawarstips.com/Guide/GettingStarted.html

The next tip he reveals and it becomes obvious after a few days is to purchase properties to raise your daily income and offset the cost of inventory maintenance.  It appears you can play once every 3 or 4 hours which makes you a maniac... okay, I'm a maniac, I'm also retired remember. (g)

As I progress, I will update this web page.  If you wish to add me to your facebook account, search for Paul D Croteau and leave a message.  If we are not related, but you wish to increase your Mafia, then by all means, I'll add you as a friend, add you to my mafia, then delete you as my friend.  We will retain the link in MW which is a good thing.

Cafe World Tips:

There are a few methods to increase your profits quickly in this game.  How can you tell if you are going to make more money?  Have a look at your BUZZ RATING - that is the number at the top right of the screen.  mine is currently at 14.7 when I took this picture, but I have seen it up to 18 at times.  It is my understanding that it can be up to 150 when you expand and finally figure out what you are doing.

How do I increase my Cafe World Buzz Rating?
You can increase your Buzz Rating by successfully serving every person who comes into the door. Customers will leave if they have to wait too long to eat or if there's no room at your tables. You can make sure that doesn't happen by adding waiters, tables and make sure you have enough food stockpiled to keep your customers happy.  Hoard your gifts.  Notice that if you cook up a plate of spaghetti you can simply use a gift of spaghetti and the number of customers served will increase proportionately.

A good trick for Cafe World faster food serving time is to block the waiters with counters and tables. (See the picture below) Block the waiters so they cannot walk around to serve tables, but give them access to each counter with food. Cafe World waiters have to be able to reach food on the counters or they will not be able to serve it.

Have plenty of dishes to serve - I have found the variety of three dishes works well for Cafe World buzz rating to go up. One counter will serve one dish, even if you have multiple orders of that same dish. For example, if you use four stoves to cook bacon cheeseburger, all four orders will be served on one Cafe World counter. Make cheap and quick dishes during the day, such as bacon cheeseburger, fruit salad and chips and guacamole. Overnight cook dishes that take at least 4 hours to prepare so that they are ready for serving in the morning.

Have room for customers to walk around - do not push tables and chairs against the walls. Customers should be able to walk around the tables in order to find a spot. Customers will leave if they cannot find a seat and your buzz rating will go down.

Add more doors trick - Cafe World basic doors are free, so add several doors on each wall. The more doors you have, the more customers will be able to enter and walk around the room. Some customers will not take long walks to find a seat, so several doors helps keep buzz rating down as they can all be seated quickly.

Add more windows - I had more customers walk in as soon as I added more windows. Customers were passing by the restaurant and not coming in, and I had no idea why. I placed several windows on each wall and the customers started pouring in.  My initial buzz rating was sitting at 5.4 until I combined all of these tips and reached 105 or there about.  As you progress up the ladder your rating will increase.  I also feel that the type of food you are cooking has a definite influence on the buzz rating.

Do not serve the same customers multiple drinks - serve them drinks once. Drinks and appetizers can be found in your gift box, Cafe World friends can send you free gifts such as drinks daily. Serve one batch of customers once and then wait for a new batch before serving additional drinks.

The biggest problem with going too high at such a low level in the game is that you do not have enough stoves to cook sufficient meals for that many customers per hour.  In order to lower your buzz level, undo everything you have been told above!  Put tables near the walls, remove all but one or two doors to the restaurant.  The game strategy is to ensure you have sufficient meals cooking for advanced times when you can access the game.  As a friend and neighbour your help in sending quality meals helps a lot especially when you are waiting on a large meal to finish cooking, you can use the gifts received on your serving platters.
