Obituary of Paul Crotteau in Wed, Sept. 9, 1936 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Paul Crotteau

Paul Crotteau, better known as "Joe," was born in Canada on January 17, 1873, and died in a Minneapolis hospital last Friday, of heart trouble. Mr. Crotteau moved to this country 52 years ago, settling on a farm east of this city with his parents.

He lived in this vicinity until 25 years ago, when he moved to Cloquet, Minn., where he engaged in farming. Recently he discontinued farming for employment in a paper mill located at St. Cloud. The funeral was held from the Catholic church in Cloquet Monday, with a large concourse of relatives and friends present to pay final tribute.

He is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters; surviving are his wife, eight sons, three daughters, five brothers, and three sisters.

Those from here who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Mike DeMars and family, Mrs. Henry Crotteau, Mr. and Mrs. Art Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Edward DeMars, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis DeMars.

Ruth Crotteau Gutzmer, 96, of Luck died January 13, 2007 at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Luck.

She was born March 4, 1910 in Mount Vernon, South Dakota, to William and Laura (Bell) Black.

She was married on April 9, 1931, in Owatonna, MN to Leonard Crotteau, who preceded her in death on May 31, 1968.

On June 17, 1970, she married Walter Gutzmer, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1990.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and five brothers, one half-brother, one half-sister, and one son, Bruce.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce (LeRoy Brown), one son, Jim (Janet Boucher), one sister, Alma Stewart of Curtiss, OH, two half-sisters, June LaForte, and her twin sister, Jean Hunt, both of St. Paul, MN, one half-brother, Bill Swenson, of Tempe, AZ, one sister-in-law, Jeanette Black of Hastings, MN, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildtren, and one great-great grandson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church, located on Highway 35 and B, just north of Luck.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007, from 4-7 p.m., at the Rowe Funeral Home in Luck, and for one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Brian Crotteau, Sandy Krizek, Mike Crotteau, Laura Jensen, Paul Brown, Julie Woodward, and Jill Noha.

Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Anderson, Glen Brown, Poncho Lindell, and Gene Hedke.
