- It is believe that Charles (senior) Croteau had two sons one named Charles Croteau the other named Jean Baptiste Croteau. They travelled to Ontario to engage in the fur trade.
- I wonder if the story could be the grandfather named Charles his son named Charles and his grandson named Jean Baptiste Croteau.
- LDS provides Charles Croteau parents as Charles Croteau and Agelique Houde. Although this Charles' father is also named Charles, he did not have a brother (that I can find) named Jean Baptiste Croteau.

Jean Baptiste Croteau b: circa 1800 was a voyageur with the North West Fur Trading Company. He traded on the great Lakes from 1816-1821 and then he signed a contract with another independant man, David DAVID, in 1821 to go to the Lake Huron, Ontario area.
When Jean Baptiste CROTEAU arrived in 1828 at Penetange Ontario with the Drummond Islanders, he was reportedly with his father and brother both named Charles. Another option could be that he was with his grandfather and father both named Charles.

FRANKLIN -- Dominic A. Croteau, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia after a short illness. He was born in Manchester, Aug. 22, 1928, the son of Seraphin (Joseph) Croteau and Fidelia (Demers) Croteau.
He lived in Manchester most of his life before recently making Franklin his home. He served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army for more than 20 years, traveling to many places and earning many medals for his service. After retiring from the service, he worked at Manchester Mack as a mechanic for more than 20 years.
His hobbies included painting, fishing, and traveling cross-country in his motor home with his wife, Florence, and their dog, Laddie. He was the widower of Florence M. (Clark) Croteau, who died in 2001 and to whom he had been married for 48 years.
He was also predeceased by a brother, Henry Croteau. He is survived by a sister, Rita (Croteau) Morrisette of Manchester; brothers, Rosaire Croteau of Manchester, Leopold (Paul) Croteau of Florida and Raymond Croteau of Franklin; his daughters, Cynthia Gillis of Nashua and Diane Croteau and her husband, Thomas, of Franklin; and one son, Donald Croteau, and his wife, Sue, of Manchester.
He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jennifer (Croteau) Hennessy, Jonathan Croteau, David Croteau, Brian Gillis, Laura Croteau and Kristen Gillis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held with military honors for both him and his wife Monday at 11 a.m. at New Hampshire State Veterans' Cemetery in Boscawen.
