The place name is Brower. It is near Cochrane, to the East on the logging road which leads to La Reine Quebec. There is nothing there now although it is on the map. It was mostly a logging camp back then. The Belanger family (and the Lavigueurs) is hard to track because they keep moving.
For the past 3 generations, they seemed to revolve around Hawkesbury, ON (Chute ΰ Blondeau, L'Orignal) and Boileau , QC (Ponsonby in the past).
There are still some of their cousins in the communities between Boileau and Lachute like Harrington, Rivington and Kilmar.Flavie Major was born in Grenville, QC. (the certificate says Greenville) .That is just across the bridge from Hawkesbury.
My father in law, Leon Belanger came to Norembga (another logging camp near Brower) in 1928 I think after getting into a snit with his dad over how to cultivate the farm they had in Boileau.
Boileau is due North of Hawkesbury on the Ottawa river, on the Quebec side. Several members of the family including Anna followed them later and eventually they all came there including his dad (Aguenas) and his grandfather (Joseph). They then moved to Harty (near Kapuskasing) where they lived out their lives.

Ontario man sentenced to more than 12 years in prison in telemarketing scam

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - A Canadian man has been sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison and ordered to repay US$2.9 million to more than 6,000 customers he duped in a telemarketing scam.
Terrence Croteau, 32, (sic born 1974) of Welland, Ont., pleaded guilty in May to 20 counts of mail fraud, four counts of wire fraud and a telemarketing-conspiracy charge. In exchange for his plea, federal prosecutor Bruce Reppert agreed to recommend the low end of the possible prison sentences.
During Croteau's sentencing hearing Thursday, Reppert said Croteau has co-operated with investigators of other telemarketing operations and might get more time trimmed from the sentence. "I got carried away with the business of making money," Croteau said in apologizing to U.S. District Judge David Herndon.
Authorities say that between 2000 and June 2004, Croteau's employees called businesses, charities, churches, sheriff's offices and others, offering for as much as $800 to include them in business directory listings, which ultimately were bogus.
Croteau's employees pretended they were legitimately renewing an existing listing or said they were confirming the business' correct address to get employees to say the word "yes" on tape.
His collections department used lies, deception and threats to collect from people who hadn't ordered the listing or did not understand what they had ordered. According to court testimony, Croteau's collectors confronted a 14-year-old girl with a driveway fruit stand and a mentally disabled woman with the intellect of a 13-year-old who was living in an Oklahoma group home.
People who did pay were often sent a compact-disc version of the directory and billed a second time.
A postal inspector testified that Croteau's companies, Pinacle Publishing and MDSC Publishing, called so many U.S. numbers that one month's long-distance phone bills, single-spaced, could be stacked a 30 centimetres high.
Croteau fled Canada for Mexico during the investigation and was arrested in June of last year in Cancun.
Last year, the Federal Trade Commission won a $2.9 million default judgment against Croteau and shut down his businesses.

In the town of Milan, New Hampshire in April of 1920 John Baptiste Croteau was working on the family farm. After leading a bull to water, he was about to return to the stable when the bull attacked and gored him inflicting massive injuries. Charles Bennett, John Baptiste's son-in-law, saw the accident and rushed to help him. An ambulance was summoned from Berlin, N.H. and took John Baptiste to the St. Louis Hospital, where it was found that nearly all of his ribs had been broken and that his lung was pierced.
He passed away the following day, April 18, 1920 at the age of 74. John Baptiste was a highly respected citizen of Milan where he had lived for forty years.
