Research Notes: Husband - Charles David Welch

Source: Lynne (Bennett) Welch

The Welch family moved from Wisconsin to Montana between 1906 and 1910. They followed Ramsey Crotteau who arrived in Libby in the spring of 1906 and organized a modern sawmill plant, known as Dawson Lumber Company. Since Priscella's birth month is August, I'm assuming the families did not travel together, but followed at a later date.

By the 1920 census, the Welch family were in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington and in 1930, the family was enumerated in Bend, Deschutes County, Oregon. I believe they moved to Oregon in late 1929/early 1930 as the family was in the 1930 Tacoma City Directory. By 1934 the Welch family were listed in the Tacoma City Directory again. Many Crotteaus also ended up in Washington, but I haven't worked on those branches yet.

The 1920 Tacoma, WA census indicated that both Charles and Lilly are age 49. Charles father and mother were both born in Illinois, USA

Notes: Marriage

1930 Census indicates they were married at age 23.
