"Deschaillons-sur-Saint-Laurent 250 ans de petite histoire, 1744-1994 ". On September 12 1837, the Deschaillons parishers engaged themself to give an extra money to have a permanent priest. The original documents say how many hays truss, minots of potatoes and cord of wood each will give in surplus. In this document I do found the name of Narcisse Croteau, Moïse Croteau and Joseph Croteau.

It is a list of people living in Deschaillons in 1857, it was for a church operation, it is based on value of the property by the municipal evaluation.
Antoine Croteau and Moise Croteau, both had property evaluated at 25£ (pound) that might be only a house. If I do compare to Julien Caret and David Caret they both have a municipal evaluation of 100 £, that I know to be a land of 2X22.5 arpents, this was taken from an other document.

In the register of Fortierville, it is mentioned the following: 30.07;01.08.1899 d. Antoine Croteau, widow of Emilie Carette, 85 years. This places Antoine's date of birth as 1814 and not 1819. The 1851 Canadian Census gives his year of birth as 1818.
