Yvette M. Croteau-O'Brien, 93, of Biddeford, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. Born on May 22, 1915 in Fort Kent, she was the daughter of Joseph and Alice Madore Michaud and was educated in Fort Kent schools.
She moved to the Sanford area when she was 18 years old and on June 4, 1934 she married Ludger J. Croteau in St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. He died Nov. 12, 1967.
Mrs. O'Brien worked as a manager of a Biddeford First National Store during World War II and later managed a boarding home on Main Street in Saco at her residence. She retired to Florida for many years and on Jan. 7, 1983 she married Cornelius O'Brien in St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. He died Jan. 23, 2000.
She was a founding member of the Daughters of Isabella in Biddeford. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was an avid reader and loved writing letters to her family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford.
She was predeceased by sister, Priscilla "Pat" Michaud; brothers, Gilbert Michaud and Lewellyn Michaud, Esq.
She is survived by daughter, Betty Ann Bolduc and her husband Jerry of Longwood, Fla.; son, Joel Croteau of Biddeford; granddaughter, Susan Hobson and her husband Mark; grandsons, Christian Croteau and his wife Holly, Shannon Croteau and his wife Susan, Brian Bolduc and his wife Debbie; great-grandchildren, Ross, Ellen and Brent Hobson, Matthew and Elizabeth Bolduc, Brady Croteau; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in Yvette's name may be made to the Biddeford Free Clinic, 189 Alfred St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
