Obituary (nee:SHOVER) GROOMS:
Esta M. Grooms, 88, of West Portsmouth, died Sunday, July 29, 2001 at her residence. A native of Friendship, she was born Aug. 5, 1912 to the late Edward and Julia Cannaday Shover.
She was a housewife, and a member of the Valleyview Mission for 52 years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Grooms in 1982; one son: Teddy Grooms; one daughter: Ruthann Presley; two brothers: Edward and Albert Shover; and five sisters: Ruby Coburn, Louise Monk, Gladys Stream, Edith Shover and Mildred Shover.
Surviving are two sons: William L. Grooms of Sarasota, FL; and Kenneth Grooms of Grove City; one daughter; Joy Miller of Columbus; one brother: Raymond Shover of Cleveland; one sister: Bernice Koogler of Englewood; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001 at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Forrest Cornwell officiating. Burial in McKendree Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family's favorite charity is Hospice of Southern Ohio.
