NEWBURY PARK, Calif. - Albert R. Croteau, 79, of Newbury Park, Calif., passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in South Lawrence, Mr. Croteau graduated from Lawrence High School.
He retired from Singer Sewing Machine Co., and later from Sears. Following his retirement, Mr. Croteau could often be seen on television where he enjoyed many years of filming movies and TV shows playing various parts as an extra. During his 35 years living in California, he remained a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and loved to play 45's and cribbage.
He was the son of the late Leon and Emma (Dube) Croteau. He is survived by his wife Anita of Newbury Park, Calif., son Russell Croteau and wife Maureen of Hudson, N.H., daughters Diane and husband Leo LeDuc of Sterling, Conn., and Laurie and husband Jeffrey Couture of Methuen, and daughter-in-law Laurinette Croteau of Methuen, stepsons, Jeff Marohn, Douglas Marohn and his wife Nancy, Garrett Marohn and his wife Karen, and stepdaughter Jennifer Scott and her husband Chris, all of California, brother Donald Croteau of Methuen, and sister Irene Macaione of Salem, N.H.
He also leaves 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Croteau was predeceased by his former wife, Stella Croteau, son Richard Croteau, brother Leo Croteau and sister Loretta Croteau.

CROTEAU: Normand, 44, of 525 U.S. Route 2, Molly's Pond in West Danville, passed away at his home Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002. He was the husband of Susan Croteau.
He was born Sept. 19, 1957, to Normand and Pauline (Lanoue) Croteau of Woonsocket, R.I. He was an active member of Youth Ministry at his parish, where he loved to play guitar and minister to young adults. It was at that time he met Susan, his future wife. They wed on June 25, 1977, at St. Agatha's Parish in Woonsocket. He went on to get his bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College and his master's degree in psychology from Norwich University in Vermont. He was a licensed clinical psychologist. He worked at Northeast Kingdom Mental Health, where he was to start work as a counselor at local elementary schools in St. Johnsbury.
He loved Vermont, where he resided most of his married life. He recently celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his first love, Susan.
He is also survived by his son, Jason Croteau, also of Molly's Pond; two daughters, Bethany Croteau of Steubenville, Ohio, and Amy Croteau of Putney, Vt.; his father, Normand Croteau Sr. of Woonsocket, R.I.; and a sister, Debra Conley of Seekonk, R.I. He had many nieces and nephews whom he loved greatly, including Thomas Croteau Jr., Robert Arias, Sarah Croteau (his goddaughter), Stephanie Croteau, Kevin Croteau and Audra Vasterling.
He was predeceased by his mother Pauline, brothers Bobby and Tommy, and his mentor, Father Gerald Dye.
Normand was a hard worker who really enjoyed helping people, especially children. He was a gentle man who took great pride in his family. He had a great sense of humor and an amazing spirit, which will now live on in everyone he ever knew. He was loved and will be forever missed.
Visiting hours will be held this evening, Sept. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Guibord Funeral Home, located on the corner of Main and Center streets in Lyndonville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury, VT with Father Patrick Foreman, celebrant.
There will be a memorial service Sept. 14 in Woonsocket, R.I.
