I do have a copy of the letter sent home to my dad at the end of WW II. We have wonderful documentation on his service and my brother who inherited all of it copied it for all of the siblings. My dad received a purple heart after his ship was sunk in the Pacific. What I find fascinating is how many of our relatives came from Normandie, and my dad's ship was one of the first in on that battle.
