Florence Croteau, 92
SACO - Florence Croteau, 92, a resident of Evergreen Manor and formerly of Biddeford, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Southern Maine Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 22, 1912 in Biddeford, a daughter of Joseph and Amanda Methot Arel and was educated in Biddeford schools.
On Sept. 6, 1937, she married Philibert Croteau at St. Andre's Church.
Mrs. Croteau was employed at West Point Pepperell for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of St. Andre's Church and of the Ross Center Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed spending time playing cards and bingo
Florence was predeceased by her husband, Philibert Croteau in April 1952. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Roland Arel; and by three sisters, Juliette and Antoinette Arel and Blanche Milliken.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph Croteau and his wife Rachel of Biddeford, and Donald Croteau and his wife Elaine of Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren, Keith, David and Scott Croteau, Tracy Croteau, Brenda Dubois, and Karen Walker; 12 great-grandchildren; and 13 several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford.

Peacefully at his home in Milton on Tuesday, April 6th, 2004, with his loving family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Henriette for 47 years. Proud father of Michele and her partner Wesley.
Dear brother of Lucienne, Simone, Jeanne d'Arc, and Rita, and brother-in-law to Dorothy. Predeceased by his brothers Emile, Roger, and Conrad and his sisters Donalda, Lucille and Julienne.
Fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews, and by his devoted companion Happy II. To all who knew Richard, he was a quiet, kind and caring man. He devoted his working life to his love of horses and harness racing, as a driver, trainer and senior judge, and was widely respected throughout Canada, especially in Quebec and Ontario, and the United States for his knowledge, integrity and commitment to excellence.
A bilingual funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 17th, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Eglise Sacre-Coeur, 39 Guelph Street in Georgetown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Our heartfelt gratitude to Richard's wonderful medical team for their compassion, care and attention. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to either the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Toronto or the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation in Mississauga. Richard Croteau Passes

Richard Croteau, a longtime horseman, a judge with the Ontario Racing Commission since 1979 and formerly of the Canadian Trotting Association, passed away April 7, 2004.
"Dick" Croteau was a groomer, trainer and driver from 1942 until 1960. He raced at major tracks in Canada and the US against the likes of Keith Waples, Clint Hodgins, Frank Ervin and Frank Safford.
He had some success with pacer Jake Rodney, who had a mark of 2:03.2, and Moore Volo and Voluminous, who were clocked in time-trial efforts of 2:01.3 and 2:05 respectively. He also campaigned Tip Abbe, who at one time in his career raced for Georges Gigueres in the National Pacing Derby at Roosevelt Raceway in New York.
Dick Croteau was born in Kingsbury, Quebec in 1929. He was 74 years old and living in Milton, Ontario, when he passed. Please join us in offering our condolences to Dick Croteau's friends and family.

During the War Between the States, John Jackson Arrowood served in Company G of the 14th Battalion of North Carolina Cavalry, C.S.A. He surrendered at Dillingham, North Carolina, on May 5, 1865, and held the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

Mrs. Pearl Shover Mrs. Pearl Shover, 30, of 4345, Rhodes avenue, who had been in poor health the past year, died at her home in New Boston about 8:30 Wednesday morning. Those who survive besides her husband, William Shover, are five children, Dorothy Mae, Ada Vernice, Carl, Howard and Geneva. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the New Boston First Christian church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.

During the War Between the States, John Jackson Arrowood served in Company G of the 14th Battalion of North Carolina Cavalry, C.S.A. He surrendered at Dillingham, North Carolina, on May 5, 1865, and held the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
