I do have a copy of the letter sent home to my dad at the end of WW II. We have wonderful documentation on his service and my brother who inherited all of it copied it for all of the siblings. My dad received a purple heart after his ship was sunk in the Pacific. What I find fascinating is how many of our relatives came from Normandie, and my dad's ship was one of the first in on that battle.

NORTHFIELD \emdash Deborah Jean Croteau, 47, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, surrounded by her family at her home on Pearl Street.
She was born in Montpelier, July 3, 1958, the daughter of Robert H. and Joan A. (Partlow) Drury.
She is a graduate of Northfield High School, class of 1976.
She married Thomas R. Croteau on Aug. 20, 1977, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield.
She had worked for Vermont Mutual Insurance and was a teacher's assistant in the Northfield Schools.
She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Church of Northfield.
Debbie enjoyed caring for children, camping, bingo, spending time with her family and was an avid shopper.
Survivors include her husband Thomas of Northfield; her mother, Joan Drury of Northfield; two children, Kristopher Croteau and his wife, Rebecca, and daughter Kimberly Croteau and her companion, all of Northfield; two sisters, Daphne Williams and her husband Mike of Burlington, and Denise Mercadante and her husband Mike of Montpelier;
three brothers, Douglas Drury and his wife Kathy of Northfield, David Drury of Northfield, and Daniel Drury and his wife Betsy of Middlesex; mother and father in-law, Linda and Bruce Matheson of Northfield; an adopted brother and sister, Ken and Lisa Goslant of Northfield; brother-in-law, Kevin Croteau and his wife Steph of Berlin; sister-in-law, Leann Morrissette and her husband John of Middlesex; brother-in-law, Tom Croteau and his companion Martha Lange of North Montpelier;
