Alice M. Van Dyke, age 39, of 428 W. Cedar St., Chippewa Falls, and formerly of Rice Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire. She died peacefully with family and loved ones at her side.

Alice was born March 23, 1966, the daughter of Raymond and Carol (Crotteau) Van Gilder in Rice Lake. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1984 and attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Barron County and Marquette University where she met her husband, Jerry Van Dyke. Jerry and Alice were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Dobie, Wis. on Aug. 12, 1989, and resided in Milwaukee until they moved to Chippewa Falls in 1992.

Alice and Jerry were thrilled to adopt their sons, David in 1998 and Daniel in 2001 through Lutheran Social Services. She was very passionate about sharing the joys of open adoption. Alice was proud to be a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed baking, scrapbooking, camping and especially having fun with family and friends. She was preceded in death by one uncle, Dale Van Gilder, Jr.; one aunt, Alice Marie Van Gilder; her father-in-law, John Van Dyke; maternal grandfather, Lloyd Crotteau; and paternal grandfather, Dale Van Gilder, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Brian J. Jazdzewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Alices family would like to thank Dr. Muslim and the staff of the 5th floor at Sacred Heart Hospital and the Regional Cancer Center of Eau Claire for their outstanding care and compassion.

Family prefers memorials to Chippewa Area Catholic Schools in Alice?s memory.

Note: Obituary of Iva Shover: She was married to Clarence Watson in 1912. It is expected that Melvin was the son of Clarence.

Research Notes: Wife - Iva I. Watson

Research indicates that Iva Watson was married at age 20 - but not to Joseph Shover. It appears the son Melvin b: 1914 is the product of another union prior to Joseph.

Obituary of Iva Shover:
She was married to Clarence Watson in 1912. He died allegedly. It is expected that Melvin was the son of Clarence.

Note:
I did find another Clarence Watson born in Kankakee, ILL who was very much alive and living with his parents in the 1930 Census. I don't know exactly if this is the same person or not at this time.
