Medical Notes: Husband - Joseph Andrew Shover

Died of gangrene from a cut caused by a saw.

Research Notes: Wife - Iva I. Watson

Research indicates that Iva Watson was married at age 20 - but not to Joseph Shover. It appears the son Melvin b: 1914 is the product of another union prior to Joseph.

Obituary of Iva Shover:
She was married to Clarence Watson in 1912. He died allegedly. It is expected that Melvin was the son of Clarence.

Note:
I did find another Clarence Watson born in Kankakee, ILL who was very much alive and living with his parents in the 1930 Census. I don't know exactly if this is the same person or not at this time.

Some information from Barbara Collins
County: Lake
Name: Joseph Shover
Spouse: Iva Watson
Marriage Date: 01 May 1918
Date: 27 Apr 1918
Book: 33 Original Source Page: 135

My Notes: This tells us who Iva Watson is, she is Joseph Shover's second wife, also I think we can assume that Laura (Timberlake) Shover died before 1918. Now look at the others Shover's surname listed on the marriages records for Lake Co., Indiana

In the 1930 census records Barbara found the following information:
Iva is 37 yrs. old, Married, and married at the age of 20 yrs., She can read and write. She was born in Illinois, her father in New York, and mother in Illinois, USA

Iva's occupation is Lodging and housekeeping the industry is a Rooming House, and she is the owner of the business.

Immigration Record:
Name: William Skidds Arrival Date: Nov 1916 Age: 1 Birth Date: abt 1915 Birth Country: Canada Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Scotch (Scotish) Port of Arrival: Calais, Maine, USA

- Note: I have noticed a large number of records for a William SKIDDS born in 1915-1916 era, and this Canadian 1916 Boarder crossing immigration record indicated he was with his parents, James Jr. SKIDDS, Age, 37 (b: 1879) and Bessie SKIDDS, Age, 33 (b: 1883)

Father James is an electician, headed to Barlett Mills, New Brunswick, Canada to visit his sister Lillian MORRIS.

Note: In almost every census report, William R Skidds gives a different year or date of birth to the census taker.

Appears he may have been born before the official date of marriage on his parents.
