Rachel Desmarais
FITCHBURG -- Rachel J. (Croteau) Desmarais, 94, of Nashoba Park, Ayer, formerly of Milk St. and The Joseph House, in Fitchburg died in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.
She was born on September 19, 1913, in St. Agnes, Lake Magantic, Canada the daughter of Clement and Melvina (LeClerc) Croteau and lived in Fitchburg for most of her life . She was living at Nashoba Park Assisted Living in Ayer for the past year.
She had been a supervisor for seven years a The Village Rest Home before her retirement in 1972. She loved to travel and for more than 25 years she had spent her winters in New Port Richey, Fla.
She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends especially Scat and Frustration. She had been a volunteer at her church for many flea markets and other events and activities for many years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She most enjoyed precious time with her grand and great grandchildren and also loved cooking for her family. She was also a member of The Association Canado-Americaine.
She leaves her son, Donald E. Desmarais and wife, Carole, of Templeton; her daughter, Joanne M. Buckley of Port Richey, Fla; her two sisters, Sister Clemence Croteau of The Daughters of the Holy Spirit, stationed at the Mother House in Putnam, Conn., and Antoinette and her husband, Donald Leger, of Fitchburg; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Her husband, Ernest Desmarais, died in 1983. She is pre-deceased by her, brothers, Ovila, Albert, Theodore, Romeo, Paul, and Athur Croteau and her sisters Mirange, Clara, Bertha, Jean, and Bella.
DESMARAIS -- The funeral will be held on Wednesday Nov. 28, 2007, from the Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church 58 Walnut St., Fitchburg with interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery Fitchburg. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.

Ralph C. Croteau, formerly of 52 Country Club Boulevard, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in Millbury Health Care Center after an illness.
His wife of 40 years, Josephine T. (Karlon) Croteau, died on September 9, 2001. He leaves a sister, Arlene V. (Croteau) Newell and her husband Clifton Newell of Laconia, NH and his good friends: John S. Cross and Becky Tornblom, both of Holden, MA. His niece, Darlene (Newell) Dolloff predeceased him.
Ralph was born on April 14, 1919 in Newport, New Hampshire, son of George J. Croteau and Florence (Beattie) Croteau. He graduated from Sunapee High School, Becker College, and Clark University. Ralph had a 40-year career in banking, retiring in September 1982 as Assistant Treasurer of the former Peoples Savings Bank, Worcester.
He was a life member of the Institute of Management Accountants, an active member of Clark University Alumni Association, and a proud member of the Worcester Fire Dept. Box 4 Associates and the Worcester Civil Defense Fire Auxiliary.
After cremation, a memorial service and burial will be in Eastman Cemetery, Sunapee, NH at the convenience of the family.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association was saddened by the passing of Terry Croteau, wife of former driver Ray Croteau, moter of former driver Bert Croteau and grandmothr of current driver Rae Croteau Jr., on Friday, August 27th, 2010 at the age of 82 after a lengthy illness.
Terry amazed us with her faith, her strength and her courage. After a lengthy debilitating illness of Alzheimer's combined with Post-Polio, she was cared for at the Bonnyville Extendicare. Terry is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Raymond (Ray Croteau) of Bonnyville, AB. Her seven children, fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Funeral serives will be held on Monday, August 30th, 2010 2:00pm at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Bonnyville, Alberta with internment to follow at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Cemetery.
