CROTEAU, Marie Rose (Guillemette) \endash On August 10, 2010 surrounded by her loving family, Lou peacefully left this world to meet her Lord and be reunited with her husband Paul Emile Croteau.
During her life, Lou loved her family above all else. She is survived by her five children, Paulette Belair (Roger), Lorraine Charlebois (Denis), Johanne Coccimiglio (Orlino), Robert Croteau (Jody) and Paul Jr., her 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and great friends.

IROQUOIS -- Gertrude Irene Croteau, 84, a resident of Iroquois for the past 50 years, died suddenly at home on February 1.
She was born January 12, 1923 in Kingsey Falls, Que. to Francois Tardif and Marie-Anne Gregoire.
On May 3, 1941, she married Paul Emile Croteau in Richmond, Que. and they had nine children. They moved to various areas in Ontario including Bath, North Channel and the old town of Iroquois until the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1956 when they moved to a farm north of Iroquois with their family.
She worked for approximately 15 years as a sewer at the Caldwell Linen Mill where her co-workers became longtime friends.
In their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida. Following the death of her husband in 1993, she moved to Beach Avenue, living next to her daughter Lise for 13 years and for the past four months at the Iroma Apartments. She was active with the Iroquois Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered countless hours assisting with meal preparation, washing dishes and earning the title of the "best gravy maker" in town.
Her world revolved around her family and she enjoyed the many family gatherings and Sunday dinners together. She was also able to enjoy trips to the Barbados, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Quebec City. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Mrs. Croteau is survived by her children, John Croteau and his wife Carol of Brockville, Lise and her husband Roger Coulter of Iroquois, Guy and his wife Nancy of Iroquois, Luc and his wife Monique of Gananoque and Frank and his wife Bonnie of Prescott and her 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her siblings, Georgette and her husband Lionel St. Onge of Detroit, Michigan, Pauline and her husband Donald Primeau of Cornwall, and Guy and his wife Lois of Ottawa.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Simone and Fernande and three brothers, Raymond, Jacques and Wilfrid, and four of her children, Suzanne, Rene, Yvon and Paul.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces/nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden-McLaughlin Funeral Home, Iroquois on February 5. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Iroquois on February 6 with Father Chisholm officiating. An eloquent eulogy was given by her grandson, Michael Croteau. Burial following cremation will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Morrisburg at a later date.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren Diane MacIntyre, Paula Picotte and Todd, Nicholas, Jason and Shawn Croteau. Honorary pallbearers were Michelle Desaulniers, Michael, Tommy and Devin Croteau.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society were gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Paul J. Croteau 1924 - 2009 SPRINGFIELD - Paul J. Croteau, age 85, passed away on Oct. 20, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on April 25, 1924 in Chicopee, MA.
He was a General Contractor and lived in the Chicopee and Springfield area his whole life. He was son to the late George and Agnes (Beauchamp) Croteau.
He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He was in the Air Force on active duty at Westover A.F.B. during the Korean War conflict. He attained the rank of Major and flew the B-25, B-17, C-54 and the C-47. He was with the 82nd Tactical Reconnaissance Group, 35th Fighter Group 5th Air Force and the 1600th Maintenance Squadron and Supply Group. He was also the Officer of the Day in 1953 at Westover A.F.B. when the first Transatlantic Helicopter flight took off and met Igor I. Sikorsky at that time.
He was a lifetime member of the Bradley Air Museum and was a member of the Shriners in the flyers unit. He continued to enjoy flying and owned his own airplane for many years. Some of his hobbies included motorcycling, woodworking and candle making.
He leaves his loving wife of 62 years of marriage Helen (Kennedy) Croteau. He also leaves his two sons Paul R.Croteau of Enfield, CT and Donald and his wife Carol Croteau of Chicopee; five brothers George and his wife Linna of West Springfield, Jean Croteau of Chicopee, Joseph and his wife Pauline of Huntington, MA, Peter and his wife Marguerite of Springfield, and Bernie and his wife Annabelle of Englewood, FL; two sister's Terry Phaneuf of Chicopee and Cecile and her husband Raymond Ledger of Chicopee, and one brother-in-law Bob King of Chicopee.
He is predeceased by one sister Margaret King and one brother-in-law Vincent Phaneuf. He also leaves 2 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St. Chicopee, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
