Joseph Normand Croteau 1918 - 2010 CHICOPEE - Joseph "Normand" Croteau, 91, a life long Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 5, 2010 in The Soldiers' Home in Holyoke.
Normand was born in Chicopee on September 8, 1918, a son of the late Alfred and Regina (Cote) Croteau.
He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran obtaining the rank of private. Normand retired after 31 years as a machinist at the former Moore Drop Forge, Chicopee. He was a communicant of St. Anne Church and the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, both in Chicopee.
Normand enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the League of Sacred Heart and a member of the former Artesian Society. He was a dedicated volunteer for 29 years for the Chicopee Council on Aging.
Normand was predeceased by his loving wife, Aurelie (Pimpare) Croteau on January 26, 2006. He is survived by his four children, Brother Robert R. Croteau, SC., of Woonsocket, RI, Rene L. Croteau of San Diego, CA, Dolores A. Fugere and her husband Real of Ontario, Canada, and Cecile T. Lafond and her husband Ronald of Chicopee; a brother, Gerard Croteau of Holyoke; five grandchildren, Scott and Eric Lafond, Kimberly Haffey, and Andrew and Amy Croteau; three great-grandchildren, Abigail and Zachary Lafond, and Rose Segerra; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will assemble on Saturday, March 13th beginning at 9 a.m. from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Anne Church, 30 College St., with Fr. Bill Rousseau, Pastor officiating. Rites of Committal, military honors and burial will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., all in Chicopee.
Normand's family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Friday, March 12 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Normand's memory to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, 685 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag, RI 02859.

He was born on September 18, 1924 in Woonsocket to the late Wilfred and Amanda (Rodeur) Croteau. He was survived by his companion Edith Fortier of 20 years. He was the owner of Diamond Refrigeration for 20 Years, Chief engineer for Fogarty Hospital from 1965 till 1970 at which time he opened Norms Refrigeration. He was a licensed Refrigeration Master.
He was a WWII Army Veteran belonging to the Texas 36 division, 111 combat engineers. He was a former Post Commander of HBA AMVETS Post 7, a life member of the DAV, and a life member of the VFW.
His funeral service will be held March 8, 2007 at starting at 9 am from the T. Lauzon Funeral Home, 185 Spring St., Woonsocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 Am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial to follow in St. Jean Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA..

Normand P. Croteau, 82,formally of Greene St., Woonsocket, died on March 4, 2007. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Lanoue) Croteau.
He was born on September 18, 1924 in Woonsocket to the late Wilfred and Amanda (Rodeur) Croteau. He was survived by his companion Edith Fortier of 20 years. One daughter, Debra Conley and her husband Paul Conley Jr. of Seekonk, MA., one brother Fernand Croteau of Miami, Fl., and three sisters, Aurore Lawrence, Theresa Badeau, and Pauline Lapearle all of Woonsocket.
