Received a letter from you a short time ago, requesting information about your forefathers, your Blood relations, about your family tree. I'm afraid nobody can help you about that, as you are no blood relation.
Aunt Josie as we called her, never had any children, couldn't have any, she took this little boy, your Father, to raise him, as far as we all know he was never legally adopted, in those days lot's of familys would take some child, but never botherd about adoption, just called them by their name \endash lots of times the mother was some young girl, that had got herself in trouble with some older man \endash sometimes it was large families which they couldn't raise all, and somebody would take some and raise as their own.
There is no record here as I think Father Miller told you, and as Irving 's mother said, she didn't think there is anywhere \endash but he was not aunt Josies child. You should have asked your Grandfather about this before he died, but then maybe he wouldn't have told you the truth, as I understand Auint Josie tried to make him think it was his son, how I don't know.
Your Grandfather was supposed to come back here in 3 weeks after her death and pay for the Funeral expenses, but he never came so I guess her folks had to foot that \endash She had a sister that couldn't have any children but she legally adopted a baby boy \endash and until she died a few years back, he tried to find out who his real mother was, but she went to her grave with that secret, now he is dead to.
Irving has 2 cousins, but they had their name changed, neither has any children, we have a son and daughter, our son has no children, so that will be the last of the Crottons. Irvs brothers are dead, no children, his sister has no children.
Grampa Morris was born on the border of France and Swizerland, Irvings father, Uncles and Aunts are all dead. I called his mother the night Father Miller called here, to find out these things, she said it was hard to explain over the phone, so I had to wait until she came back here for a visit, to get to know what was what. So again I'm sorry, but you better forget the whole thing, as it might not be so nice to dig to far into such things.
