Beatrice Croteau
WOONSOCKET- Beatrice (Vaillancourt) Croteau, 83, of Woonsocket passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 26, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Croteau.
Born in Fall River, MA on April 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Lillian (Lacroix) Vaillancourt.
She was the loving mother of Glenn C. Courchaine and his wife, Mamie, of Gardner, MA, and step-mother of Roland Croteau of Woonsocket and former step-mother-in-law of Doris Croteau of Woonsocket. She also leaves two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, several step-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Theresa Durand.
A longtime resident of Woonsocket, she worked at A.T. Cross for eight years until retiring in 1989 and previously worked at Reliance Products of Woonsocket for 17 years. She was a member of St. Agatha's Senior Club, bowled on the Happy Rollers Bowling League and had served as treasurer, an avid bingo player, enjoyed reading, a devoted Red Sox fan, and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 30 at 9:30AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM at St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 5 to 7PM at the funeral home. Croteau, Donald H.
GARDNER -- Donald H. Croteau, 70, of 322 Leo Drive, formerly of Westminster and Fitchburg, died Monday evening, July 19, at the University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester.
He was born in Fitchburg on Oct. 23, 1933, the son of Claire (Lattinville) Croteau and the late Henry Croteau and resided in Fitchburg and Westminster before moving to Gardner four years ago.
For over 30 years, Mr. Croteau worked as an assistant warehouse manager for the W.E. Aubuchon Co. in Fitchburg and Westminster, retiring in 1993.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and wildlife. He also became accomplished at antique collecting and restoration.
Besides his mother of Sacramento, Calif.; he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lucille J. (Lortie) Croteau; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bryan and Theresa Croteau of Hubbardston and Peter D. Croteau of Gardner; three daughters and a son-in-law, Susan M. and John Morin of Westminster, Sandra L. Croteau of Leominster, and Diane M. Sharp and her companion, Todd Davidson of Templeton; a brother, George Croteau of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Nancy Meszanos of Bakersfield, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
