General Notes: Husband - Andre Croteau
Andre Croteau was a soldier in the service of the King of France. He married Marguerite Métayer in Veules-les-Roses France about 1644. Vincent Croteau was born around 1644.
It was in the coastal French fishing village of Veules, in 1644, that André Croteau and Martine Mergeurite Métayer gave birth to Vincent Croteau, who, along with his wife Jeanne Godequin, is the single ancestor of most North American Croteau's / Crotteau's today.
Notes: Marriage
There is some question as to the date of the marriage some say 1630 others use 1646 - opposed to the date of birth for Vincent Croteau. It appears that 1647 brought along both Vincent and Jacques.
General Notes: Child - Vincent Ancetre CROTEAU
There are two dates of birth for Vincent... one in 1644 the other is 1647. The majority of researchers have used the 1647 version.
There are two indicators of his death. Latter Day Saints records the death as 11 Nov 1730. Apparently there is a record noted during the wedding of his son Pierre Croteau in 1715 that his fatter is no longer with them. This places the death between 1710 - 1715.
Research Notes: Child - Jacques CROTEAU
LDS gives a date of birth as 1629 which would have made Jean Baptiste Croteau a brother or other close relative of Andre Croteau.
Strange there is no mention of this person in either the Drouin or Tanguay records from the period.
CGFA lists this person as Jacques Croteau instead of Jean Baptiste Croteau.

Andre J. Croteau, 81, of 105 Belmont Street, died May 20, 2008 at the Elliot Hospital.
He was born in Manchester on March 18, 1927, the son of Edmond and Imelda (Robin) Croteau and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and belonged to the American Legion, Jutras Post and the D.A.V. Andre owned and operated Andy's Burner Service for over 25 years until his retirement. He was a life member of the Mount Royal Club and enjoyed playing pool and cribbage.
Family members include his wife of 56 years, Lucie (Savoie) Croteau; seven sons, Thomas Croteau of Franklin, Donald Croteau of FL; William Croteau and Philip Croteau, both of Manchester, Ronald Croteau of Weare, Albert Croteau of Litchfield and Moe Croteau of Manchester; a daughter, Diane Dion of Manchester; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Fontaine of Epsom; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 30th at 11:00 in St. Anthony Church. Urn burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Association, 1 Tremont Street, Concord, NH 03301. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements. Born in Bolton, CT a former (50) year resident of East Longmeadow and a (2) year resident of Agawam, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Troglio) Massolini. During World War II, she worked at Pioneer of Manchester, CT, a manufacturer of parachutes and later at the former W. T. Grant store in Springfield. She was a former member of the East Longmeadow Grange, the Moose Lodge and the East Longmeadow Senior Center. Irma leaves her husband of (52) years, Andrew J. Croteau (Born 02 Feb 1916); (3) sons; Richard Senecal and his wife, Joan of Smithville, TN; Ronald Senecal and his wife, Karen of Alton Bay, NH; Donald Croteau and his wife Susan of Vero Beach, FL; a grandchild, Dawn Martin of Westfield; (2) great grandchildren, Tiffany and Nicholas; a brother, Louis Massolini of Stuart, FL; (3) sisters, Josephine Carlson of Manchester, CT; Mary Massolini and Janette Massolini both of Bolton, CT. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at the Hafey East Longmeadow Chapels 120 Shaker Road, on Friday, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield.
