We know this Alphonse was born to Louis Croteau - 1881 Census.
He married Hedwidge Moreau in 1892 then he married Marie Chenay around 1895. They had a daughter named Corinne Croteau born 1896. I have the QC Drouin records.
IN the 1901 Chester West Census report I find Marie LAMBERT listed as his wife - his mother in law is living with him!
a) Alphonse married Marie Lambert before the 1901 Census.
b) I have a duplicate family with the same names, children's names and ages.
Conclusion: Alphonse did not marry Marie Lambert on 08 Oct 1917 in St. Victoire, QC, Canada but married her before the 31 March 1901 Census.
