FRANKLIN -- Dominic A. Croteau, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia after a short illness. He was born in Manchester, Aug. 22, 1928, the son of Seraphin (Joseph) Croteau and Fidelia (Demers) Croteau.

He lived in Manchester most of his life before recently making Franklin his home. He served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army for more than 20 years, traveling to many places and earning many medals for his service. After retiring from the service, he worked at Manchester Mack as a mechanic for more than 20 years.

His hobbies included painting, fishing, and traveling cross-country in his motor home with his wife, Florence, and their dog, Laddie. He was the widower of Florence M. (Clark) Croteau, who died in 2001 and to whom he had been married for 48 years.

He was also predeceased by a brother, Henry Croteau. He is survived by a sister, Rita (Croteau) Morrisette of Manchester; brothers, Rosaire Croteau of Manchester, Leopold (Paul) Croteau of Florida and Raymond Croteau of Franklin; his daughters, Cynthia Gillis of Nashua and Diane Croteau and her husband, Thomas, of Franklin; and one son, Donald Croteau, and his wife, Sue, of Manchester.

He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jennifer (Croteau) Hennessy, Jonathan Croteau, David Croteau, Brian Gillis, Laura Croteau and Kristen Gillis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held with military honors for both him and his wife Monday at 11 a.m. at New Hampshire State Veterans' Cemetery in Boscawen.

Edward J. Croteau 1943 - 2004

HOLYOKE - Edward Joseph Croteau, 60, of 86 Congress Avenue in Holyoke, died on Tuesday (sic, 24 Aug 2004) at his home after a long illness.

Before his retirement, he was employed as an electrical engineer at the former Sickles Corp. in Chicopee Center. He was born in Holyoke on November 19, 1943, the son of the late Roland E. Croteau and Dorothy (Sullivan) Croteau who lives in Newport, Vermont.

He attended the Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. He was a member of the Electronic Technicians Guild of Massachusetts. He leaves his wife, the former Karen A. Clark.

He also leaves one son, Edward J. Croteau, Jr. of Holyoke; four brothers, Francis Connor, David Croteau, Daniel Croteau, and Rene Croteau; five sisters, Gail Moore, Sandra Bronner, Edith Pouliot, Susan Fitzgerald, and Donna Cortis.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Croteau and Roland Croteau.

There are no visiting hours or funeral services. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Life Care at 28 Appleton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Arthur J. Brunelle Funeral Home at 811 Chicopee St. in Willimansett. Published in The Republican on 8/26/2004.
